Earth

Late summer is the season of abundance. Fruit hangs heavily from branches; fields are ready for harvest. What began as a seed months earlier has become something capable of nourishing life. This is the nature of Earth.

Earth represents nourishment, stability, caring, support, and our ability to feel centered. Its emotion is sympathy—our capacity to understand, care for, and support one another. But healthy caring moves in both directions: we need to nourish others and allow ourselves to be nourished.

Stomach — Rottening and Ripening

Before nourishment can sustain us, we first have to receive it. Can I take in support? Can I receive kindness? The Stomach reminds us that receiving is an essential part of nourishment.

Spleen — Controller of Transport

Once nourishment is received, it must reach the places where it's needed—like a meal that has to travel from the kitchen to everyone at the table. The Spleen represents this ability to transport and distribute nourishment.
